Terms of Service
Last updated: October 31, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of oncaramel.com and the Caramel app (the "Service"), run by Caramel ("Caramel," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Caramel.
1. Your account
- Signing up. You sign in with your Google account. Please keep your account info accurate.
- Security. You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your Google account secure. If you think someone accessed your Caramel account without permission, tell us right away.
- Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@oncaramel.com from the email you signed in with. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
2. Connecting Gmail
When you connect Gmail, you let Caramel read your job-related emails so it can organize your job search. How we handle that data is covered in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms. You can disconnect Gmail at any time.
3. Using the Service
- License. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for your own job search.
- Don't:
- sell, rent, resell, or commercially exploit the Service;
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or try to extract the source code or models behind the Service;
- use the Service, or anything you learn from it, to build a similar or competing product;
- scrape, crawl, or use bots to access the Service;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, or try to get around its security or limits;
- use the Service for anything illegal, harmful, or abusive, or in a way that violates someone else's rights.
- Changes. We may change, pause, or stop any part of the Service at any time. We're an early-stage product, so features will change.
4. Your content
You own the content you add to Caramel (applications, notes, drafts, and so on). You give us permission to store, process, and display it only as needed to run and improve the Service for you.
5. AI-generated results
Caramel uses machine learning to sort emails, pull out details like company and role, and help with features like interview prep. These results can be wrong or incomplete. Always double-check important details, like interview times or deadlines, against the original email or source. We're not responsible for missed opportunities caused by inaccurate or missing results.
6. Job listings and third-party sites
Caramel may show job listings and links from other sites and job boards. We don't control them, don't endorse them, and aren't responsible for their content or for whether a listing is accurate or still open. Applying to a job is between you and the employer.
7. Free and paid features
- Free and paid. Some features of Caramel are free, and some, or use beyond certain limits, require a paid plan. We'll always show you which features are paid, and what they cost, before you're charged.
- Changes to plans. We may change which features are free or paid, or the limits on free use. If a change takes away something you're already paying for, we'll tell you first.
- Billing. Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe on a recurring basis until you cancel. Prices are shown before you buy and may not include applicable taxes.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time. You'll keep access until the end of your current billing period.
- Refunds. Payments are non-refundable, except where required by law. If something went wrong with a charge, email us and we'll look into it.
- Price changes. We'll tell you before any price change takes effect, and you can cancel before it applies to you.
8. Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them freely without owing you anything. Please don't send anything you consider confidential.
9. Our property
The Service, including its design, code, models, branding, and the Caramel name and logo, belongs to us. These Terms don't give you any rights to it except the limited license in section 3.
10. Ending your access
You can stop using Caramel at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we stop offering the Service. Sections 4 (permission to process content already submitted, until deleted), 5, 6, 8, 9, and 11 to 14 survive after your access ends.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, THAT IT WILL CATCH EVERY JOB-RELATED EMAIL, OR THAT USING IT WILL HELP YOU GET A JOB.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW: (A) WE WON'T BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOST OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE; AND (B) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF $50 CAD OR WHAT YOU PAID US IN THE SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
13. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because you broke these Terms or the law while using the Service, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from that claim, to the extent allowed by law.
14. General
- Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. If we make a big change, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Caramel after that, you accept the new Terms.
- Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to your local courts.
- Try talking first. If you have a problem with Caramel, email us first. Most things can be sorted out quickly.
- Electronic notices. You agree that we can send you notices by email or in the app.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. You can't transfer these Terms without our consent; we can transfer them to a successor.
